Slow Decorating

When we took over the keys to this property we inherited many valuable things: a romantic bubbling fountain, dense and mature fruit trees, and a collection of home objects that have become key pieces of our home collection.

Most of these pieces were decor objects: scrappy art in frames, small tables, mirrors, some pottery and two lovely leather and wooden chairs. What we lacked was comfortable furniture, a couch, some rugs, side chairs, large art for our walls and little items or tokens to fill up our bookshelves and little spaces.

In May 2021 we took our first trip to Mexico City’s famed Lagunilla Market. A weekly outdoor tianguis held every Sunday with hundreds of local vendors selling vintage everything!

Long story short we scooped up a couple rugs, nine dining chairs, a few art pieces, some pottery and artisan pieces as well as a living room set (green couch and two side chairs).

Each year since we have made dedicated trips to the Lagunilla market, Mexico City at large and other areas to source even more treasures. Our recent trip to Oaxaca was a great sourcing trip.

This week we are receiving a new couch that we designed with a team in Guadalajara as well as a new rug that we sourced for the space. We are so excited to bring some new life to the space and find a new home within the property for our beloved and funky vintage couch and vintage rug too.

More soon!
